Co-op Subject Overview

Chapel (All Grades)

At the heart of Anchored Homeschool Academy is our commitment to following Jesus Christ and raising our children to be His disciples. Chapel is a sweet time each co-op morning when families gather to worship the Lord together. This time includes worship and Bible passage recitation.

After chapel:


  • Preschool, Kindergarten, and Secondary students will head to their classes.

  • 1st–6th Grade students will stay for memory group time, practicing vocabulary, poetry, and theology memorization.

Students who complete all memory work for the year will be eligible to compete in the Truth Seekers Memory Challenge at year’s end and will be honored for their achievement.



Preschool–1st Grade

These early years are full of discovery and joy. Our classes balance fun and learning with activities that include:


  • Science and social studies

  • Letter recognition and early reading

  • Storytime and read-alouds

  • Hands-on crafts and activities

  • Movement and music



Science (2nd–12th Grade)

We use Apologia Science, a trusted and biblically sound curriculum, for all science instruction from 2nd grade through high school.


  • Students will engage in experiments and hands-on activities related to their unit of study.

  • All grades will have some reading homework.

  • Upper grades may be given quizzes, tests, and reading homework.



Geography (2nd–3rd Grade)

Students will explore the Middle and Western United States using Our 50 States by Notgrass History.


  • Includes engaging lessons, mapping, and simple reading assignments.



History (4th–12th Grade)

Students will explore significant historical events and eras through unit studies. Each unit is paired with a list of engaging historical fiction books, tailored by age.


  • Activities include book discussions, projects, and hands-on learning.

  • Some reading and occasional projects are expected.




Bible (2nd–12th Grade)

Bible class is designed to build a firm foundation in God’s Word. Students will:


  • Dive deeper into Scripture

  • Learn key theological truths

  • Be introduced to apologetics to help them understand what they believe and why



PE/Recess
Each class will have times to run and play and get some exercise. Each week students will have the opportunity to play cooperative games and move their bodies. 

Afternoon Classes

STEM Tales

Step into a world where fairy tales meet science in this imaginative STEM class designed for 1st and 2nd graders! Each week, students will explore a classic fairy tale and then dive into hands-on STEM activities that bring the story to life. From building a sturdy house for the Three Little Pigs to designing a zipline to help Rapunzel escape her tower, children will use critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration to solve fun, story-based challenges. This class encourages young learners to ask questions, experiment, and discover how science, technology, engineering, and math can be part of every great adventure. It's the perfect blend of magic and mechanics for curious minds!

Book Club 3rd-5th Grade

Join us for a fun and engaging 28-week book club designed especially for 3rd–5th grade students! Each week, we'll dive into classic and adventurous stories that spark imagination, build reading confidence, and inspire meaningful discussions. From the wilderness survival tale My Side of the Mountain to the heartwarming mischief in Adventures with Waffles, students will explore a wide range of themes—friendship, courage, creativity, and wonder. Other featured titles include Owls in the FamilyMr. Popper’s PenguinsHomer PriceThe Magician’s NephewThe Best Christmas Pageant Ever, and the timeless Heidi. In addition to lively group discussions, students will enjoy hands-on activities, creative responses, and opportunities to connect literature to life. This book club is the perfect place for young readers to grow a love for reading and build friendships along the way!

Middle School Literature

Join us for an engaging, thought-provoking literature class designed for middle school students who love great stories and meaningful discussion! Over 28 weeks, students will journey through six classic and contemporary novels—A Christmas CarolEchoWatership DownGod’s SmugglerMurder on the Orient Express, and To Kill a Mockingbird. Each book will spark lively conversations about character, theme, and worldview while strengthening critical thinking and writing skills. Through guided discussions, creative and analytical writing assignments, and a strong focus on literary elements, students will grow as readers, writers, and thoughtful individuals. This class is perfect for those who enjoy reading deeply, thinking critically, and expressing their ideas with confidence.
